Primary Location: Salinas

Lead RVT – Equine Hospital 

Salinas, CA | Full-time, Monday - Friday | $28-$34/hr + Benefits , 401(k) & more! 

Are you a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a passion for equine anesthesia critical care, and proven leadership skills? We are seeking a skilled professional to provide exceptional ICU care for hospitalized horses, assist with anesthesia, and assume a leadership role in our hospital. If this is you, join our dynamic and dedicated team at Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics, a state-of-the-art equine veterinary facility committed to excellence in patient care, client service, and professional growth. 

Key Responsibilities: 

● Reports and works closely with Operations Manager on daily operations 

● Coordinate daily hospital operations and staff scheduling 

● Provide intensive ICU care for hospitalized equine patients, including monitoring vital signs and administering treatments 

● Assist with equine anesthesia procedures, monitoring, and recovery 

● Support education and mentorship for team members and veterinary students 

● Maintain accurate records, ensuring safety and compliance standards 

● Promoting a positive, collaborative, efficient work environment, and leading by example 

● Ensures all hospital protocols, safety procedures, and biosecurity measures are followed 

● Acts as a liaison between hospital staff, clients, and veterinarians to ensure clear communication. 

● Responsible for ensuring cleanliness and organization of treatment areas, stalls, and surgical area 

● Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of staff 

● Schedule and delegate staff assignments based on hospital needs 

● Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and hospital policy standards 

● Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency 


Qualifications: 

● Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with experience in equine 


anesthesia and ICU horse care 

● Proven leadership and management skills 

● Strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication 

● Passion for animal welfare and team development 


Requirements: 

● Current RVT license in California 

● Minimum 3 years of equine registered veterinary technician experience 

● Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred 

● Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, confidence handling horses of all temperaments and sizes
