Barn Crew
Primary Location: Salinas
We are seeking a Barn Crew Member for a temporary (6 months duration), part-time position.
SCHEDULE:
Saturday - Monday, 8-hour days
SUMMARY:
Responsible for performing various types of duties to maintain and improve the overall appearance and cleanliness of the facility location. Must be able to multi-task and interact with doctors, non-doctor personnel and clients handling various facets of the overall facility upkeep.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clean stalls, including mucking and bedding
Prepare stalls for new patients by stripping and disinfecting
Maintain a visually appealing facility to clients and staff by keeping parking lot and barn aisle free of manure, shavings, and hay
Perform groundskeeping duties including mowing, weed eating and landscaping
Handle basic repairs and maintenance throughout facility
Ensure barn, fences, enclosures, and paddocks are maintained and secure
Perform general cleaning of the facility including bathrooms and break rooms
Restock and resupply restroom and break room paper products
Empty waste and recycling bins daily throughout the facility
Maintain good knowledge of safety practices, including handling chemicals and outdoor equipment
Handle setup and breakdown of special events at the facility
Other projects as requested
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Equine experience
Skilled in use of hand and power tools
Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Attention to detail
Strong time management skills

Education/Experience — Equine experience preferred
Language Ability — Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to write/document information and general correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from manager, doctors, other staff, and clients.
Math Ability — Ability to apply simple math formulas
Reasoning Ability — Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills — No skills required
Certificates and Licenses — Must possess a valid California driver’s license with a clean DMV record.
