Rana Bozorgmanesh

BSc(Hons), BVetMed(Hons), DACVIM, MRCVS
Primary Clinic: Menlo Park

Rana grew up in in Berkshire, just outside London in the UK. At the age of 3, she decided she wanted to be a veterinarian and never changed her mind! She started riding at 4 and, as a teenager, enjoyed eventing with her horse Boomer. Rana still loves to ride when she can and has enjoyed riding Western in recent years!

Rana studied veterinary medicine at The Royal Veterinary College in London, graduating with Honors in 2008. She also attained an intercalated degree in veterinary conservation medicine, during that time, from the University of Liverpool. She went on to complete an internship in a large private practice in the UK before spending four Thoroughbred breeding seasons traveling between the UK, Australia, and the Middle East. She then completed a year-long internal medicine fellowship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Kentucky, followed by a large animal internal medicine residency at UC Davis, during which time she was awarded The Rowan Fellowship by The California Thoroughbred Foundation for her contributions to research. Following her residency, she stayed on at UC Davis as Associate Veterinarian in the Equine Internal Medicine Department, before moving back to Kentucky where she worked as an internal medicine specialist at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute for 6 years. Dr. Bozorgmanesh joined Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics in July 2022.

Rana enjoys all aspects of Internal Medicine, and also has special interests in gastroenterology, ophthalmology, neonatology, and critical and healthy broodmare medicine. In addition, she has completed the Chi University Acupuncture training course and has had great success treating complex medical cases with acupuncture and Chinese herbs as an adjunct to conventional medicine. She loves incorporating Chinese medicine into conventional Western therapeutic plans where she feels it would be beneficial. Rana is passionate about providing the highest standard of care to her patients and working collaboratively with colleagues, and gets great satisfaction from teaching interns and students whenever possible.

With her two dogs, Atticus and Missy, and her two cats, Xena and Ginger, there’s never a dull moment at Rana’s house. When not working, Rana is usually either at CrossFit or yoga. She has completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training course and is therefore a certified yoga instructor. Rana also loves to travel and hike and do just about anything that gets her outside and exploring nature.
