Lisette Breaux

Lisette Breaux grew up in South San Francisco and Pacifica. Lisette and her sister spent summers at their grandparents’ cattle farm in Turlock and riding horses at their aunt and uncle’s ranch in Fresno. She attended rodeos in which her family competed in barrel racing and team roping events, and her family taught her basic horse care and riding skills.

 

Lisette started riding at 8 years old, on a pony name Pokey and some of her family’s barrel racing horses. As a teen, she attended an English riding camp in Watsonville, where she learned to jump; took lessons during her senior year in high school at Park Pacifica Stables; had a few more English lessons during college; and rode her best friend’s OTT Thoroughbreds, Allie and Banks. She enjoys both Western and English riding, and now goes trail riding at various ranches about twice a year, with her husband and friends. She hopes to get back into regular riding lessons soon. Meanwhile, Lisette has been a volunteer for the therapeutic riding program at BOK Ranch at the Horse Park at Woodside, serving as a groom and horse walker during children’s lessons.

 

Lisette cared for a variety of family pets, over the years, including Black Labradors, a duck, bunny, rats, a chicken, lizards, a canary, finches, and a cat (not all at the same time). She enjoys pet sitting for friends and hopes to someday own her own dog.

 

In college, Lisette began as a Psychology major at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, but eventually switched to Allied Health Science with an interest in veterinary care and has continued her education in the San Francisco Bay Area at Skyline College and the College of San Mateo. Lisette spent 13 years as a nanny before joining the office team at Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinic in Menlo Park, which is allowing her to pursue her other passions including her love of horses and helping people. It’s a great place for her to work, at this point in her life, as she is curious and excited about the possibility of becoming a vet tech in the future.

In her leisure time, in addition to riding whenever she gets the chance, Lisette enjoys hiking with friends, spending time with her husband and family, playing board games, baking, and drawing.
