Dr. Laurel Saldinger is originally from Los Altos, California, and grew up riding hunter/jumper in Portola Valley. What her parents hoped would be a phase turned into a lifelong passion, despite her parents sticking to their promise to never buy her a horse.
Laurel completed her undergraduate degrees in Animal Science and Biochemistry at University of Vermont, then graduated from veterinary school at the University of California, Davis. While in veterinary school she pursued her interests in regenerative medicine, performing research showing that equine mesenchymal stem cells can reduce markers of inflammation. She also enjoyed learning more about organized veterinary medicine, serving as the president of her school's Student American Veterinary Medical Association. Her professional interests include equine surgery, anesthesia, regenerative medicine, and emergency/critical care.
In her spare time, Laurel enjoys riding her quarter horse Gansito, running the trails in Portola Valley, and spending time with her cats Bug and Beetle, her partner Peter, and his dog Cooper.
