Mariana Pinos

Special International Veterinary Assistant*

Primary Location: Menlo Park

Mariana is originally from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, where she became a sub-national swimming champion in 2014, state cycling champion in 2016, and a firefighter specialized in structural fires. She dreamed of working with horses, but never had the chance growing up. When she entered veterinary school, she started working as a groom to earn riding lessons and never looked back.

After completing her veterinary training, Mariana worked at the Equine Hospital of the University of Veracruz (HGVE-UV), focused on reproduction, then spent a year at the Equine Hospital of the University of Nuevo León Monterrey (HGE-UANL), focused on colic surgery. She hopes to pursue a career in surgery and sports medicine.

Mariana loves most about Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics is her coworkers’ passion for teaching. She says that everyone has been extremely nice and welcoming, ”It truly feels like a family.” But to make sure she wouldn’t feel homesick, she arrived here with her two rescue cats from Mexico, Savannah and Misifus, whom she adores.
