Andrea Frei

BVMS

Primary Location: Menlo Park

2021-2022 Intern

Dr. Andrea Frei hails from Lake Don Pedro, a rural town in the Yosemite foothills, where she began riding Western when she was 9 years old. She learned the value of Horsemanship while working in exchange for lessons at local ranches.

Andrea graduated from Cal Poly with a major in Animal Science and a minor in Equine Science, then attended veterinary school at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, where she earned her BVMS (with Honors). She chose Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics for her Internship because of the organizations reputation for a high level of patient and client care, as well as its emphasis on mentoring young veterinarians. Andrea aspires to go on to complete an Equine Internal Medicine Residency. Her professional interests include geriatric medicine, behavior, emergency and critical care, and donkey health care.

Andrea is very happy to be back in Northern California and nearer to her big family. When she’s not working Andrea enjoys running local trails, strength training, kayaking, cooking, listening to audiobooks and spending time with Loo,sey, her Toulouse goose, and Walter Longmire, her sweet Collie-Labrador cross who loves to accompany her on runs.
